After successfully receiving EcoVadis Gold status last year, Heraeus Medical GmbH's sustainability efforts and the integration of the Sustainability Management System into its business processes have once again been recognised by EcoVadis with the Gold Seal.

The assessment focuses on four areas: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Heraeus Medical achieved a consistently high score in all areas, well above the industry benchmark, and is therefore among the top 4% of all companies in terms of points and received the gold medal, which is awarded to the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis. Compared to the previous year, Heraeus Medical was even able to improve its rating.

‘After last year's success, we are very pleased that our ongoing efforts and activities in the sustainability sector are paying off and that Heraeus Medical has once again been awarded EcoVadis Gold status,’ says Nicole Petermann, President of Heraeus Medical. ‘This motivates us to maintain and further expand our commitment to sustainability and the responsible use of resources as an integral part of our corporate goals and growth strategy at such a high level in the future.’

‘I am delighted that our commitment has been rated so positively by EcoVadis. This also helps us in our public image towards our customers, who are increasingly asking about our sustainability endeavours. We are also a cogwheel for our customers in their sustainability endeavours, so it is all the more important that we have a leading rating in our industry here,’ adds Astrid Lößner, Sustainability Manager at Heraeus Medical.

In line with the United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), companies have committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, creating decent working conditions, combating discrimination, reducing water consumption in production, tapping into renewable energy sources and much more. The EcoVadis award confirms that HME is already implementing these points in many guidelines and assessments.

EcoVadis is a global provider of sustainability ratings for companies. The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard. More than 130,000 companies from over 180 countries and 220 different industries have already been assessed by EcoVadis with regard to their corporate activities.
