Satellite Symposium: "Better safe than sorry – ways to support infection prevention with antibiotic-loaded bone cement"
Infections are still one of the most common complications and a catastrophe for every patient. Therefore, everyone agrees that infection prevention is the top priority.
In this symposium, we want to assess the risk patients, both for Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) and Fracture-Related Infection (FRI), to better understand where there is a need for specialized prevention concepts and what role antibiotic-loaded bone cement plays in the overall concept of infection prevention.
Together with our multidisciplinary experts in orthopaedics, traumatology and infectiology we delve into questions like: How can bone cement support infection prevention? What is the rationale behind the use and how is it used? Which protocols make sense for which patients? Is there evidence supporting the use of antibiotic-loaded bone cement?
Our experts analyze recent studies, share their own clinical experiences and techniques and discuss strategies. In addition, we will allow time for your questions and interactive discussions.
